Prior to the Italian unification, was a kingdom named Il Regno delle Due Sicilie, The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. A sovereign state covering many southern regions from Vietri sul Mare in the Campania region, all the way to Caltagirone in Sicily.

Throughout the centuries many regions of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies have been developing artistic ceramics in all its forms, each creation representing specific traditions of the territory.
